  1. Wozniacia up a set!

Dimitrov Down 2 sets to 1

    Querrey in a tie-break.

    Nieminen up 2 sets

Chardy up a set and a break over Stakhovsky

    Janowicz down a set

Isner up a break in 1st set.

Kvitova, Ivanovic, Kirilenko, Christina Mchale, Raonic, Kohlschreiber among notable winners

Mr. Tennis will make his presence after the Wozniacki match…….

  2. Janowicz goes out!!!! 53 errors? come on…..

Isner is totally smoking it. He is going to be a real pain for Rafa/Roger, if he keeps this up. Come on Big John! Do it for US Tennis!!! Kids, put the basketball aside for a while and pick up a tennis racquet. Isner should be an inspiration for you. Even on clay, with enough power, the serve will do damage!

  3. Federer is serving good. Making a nice clean kill! Should he win, he will play Carlos Berlocq, who went 5 sets!

Nadal’s next opponent would have played a 5 setter too.

Haas-Mathieu on court. That could be the match of the day!

  4. Istomin seems to be in fine form. Same goes for Berdych! Istomin is actually killing Nico! Nico is up a break in the 3rd, though!!!

Hantuchova up a set! [Total parade of Tennis glam queens today]

Pospisil is headed into a 5th set breaker!!!!

  5. Federer looked really good today! I think he feeling confident. I will say that he needs to go bigger with his backhand. Maybe try it out vs the next guys so he can prepare himself for the potential QF with Rafa, so that Rafa doesn’t have a field day with it… Novak looked ridiculous as usual lol. That guy really does put on beatings on the very low ranked guys… Monfils, Hass, Big John all looked very good today. Jerzy, 53 errors, are you kidding me! You where supposed to reach the semis! Whats wrong with you!? Very disappointed in him and Grigor today… Whats up with these beat downs in the womens side?? A couple of 6-0 6-0’s, a couple of 6-2 6-0’s and a couple of 6-1 6-1’s. Azarenza, Errani, Ivanovic all looked great. The big shocker was Stosur out today. Pretty good day of tennis! Cant wait until Sunday when I watch it live!

  6. @carlos:

Federer turned back the years! One of my friends [who will be also writing articles on this blog, soon] watched Federer for the 1st time and that is all he has been talking about for the last 2 days!

The backhand is always important, but in the last few years, a lot of his matches, the forehand is letting Roger down and not living up to its reputation. To me it is the single greatest shot I’ve seen in tennis. The Federer forehand – the other contenders being the usual suspects – Sampras’ or Serena’s serve, Rafa’s forehand [Graf], Edberg/Navratilova’s volley, Djokovic’s double-handed backhand and Women’s side – Serena again, Gasquet’s/Justine Henin’s single-handed backhand! and so on.

I agree, Roger needs to make sure Rafa doesn’t break down that backhand. The best way to ensure that is to do what Roger does best – Supreme shot-making, like he did in the 1st 2 sets in Cincinnati. Fedal @ USO is going to be fun!

Novak – you said it well. He made it look ridiculously good! He looks ready to be the 1st repeat champ [other than RF] at USO in last 10 years.

JJ, and Dimitrov, was expecting so much. Raonic is still there. I hope he will stand up for the Gen-next players.

Women’s tennis, the beatdowns get embarrasing! Huge fan of Vika and love Ana’s forehand. Stosur was a shocker. I was expecting her to make a good run!

Great to know you are going to Flushing Meadows on Sunday. Please feel free to give us a spectator report and we will definitely put that up on this blog 🙂 Do you plan to watch tennis on the show courts or are you going to scout the outside courts. You may not get to watch Fedal. They will play on saturday and monday, if I am not mistaken.

  7. Thanks for the great endorsement Contador. We will definitely keep up the good work. I love the polls and quizzes too.

Hint : Look at our US Open preview article. 🙂 There is a huge clue there.

  8. Great to see Baghdatis up a set! He is one of those players who everyone will root for. Hard to not root for a guy who plays the game with such flair!

Li Na and Radwanska are doing their thing. Navarro is up a set. I am always happy to see a player with one-handed backhand go about their job!

Youzhny and Mahut – another 2 players who I love to watch. Dolgopolov and Goffin too. Thank you world wide web. You make the impossible, possible! I can watch any match i want! and multiple matches!

  9. Anyone watching? Please feel free to join me on here for discussions!

Wonderful matches! Delpotro – Lopez, Hewitt-Baker and Wawa- Stepanek 🙂 Blake-Karlovic

The very best @ the last Fognini and Paire are on court-too!

I have 1 match on TV, 2 on computer and rest I am checking the scores. This is tennis insanity 🙂 Loving it!

  10. Delpotro serving to send the match into a 4th set tie-break. I hope the dude closes the match in 4.

Hewitt up 2 sets to 1, Blake and Karlovic on serve. I will go out on a limb and predict that the match will have 1 or more tie-breaks.

  11. Wawrinka is up a set and a break on Stepanek. Fognini is down a set and a break to Rajeev Ram. Paire-Bogomolov is 1 set a piece. Melzer is down a break in the 3rd set. [He won 2nd set after losing 1st]

  12. Wawrinka is playing some wonderful tennis. His back is one of the very best in the game right now. Great to see him play.
Thanks for the updates! I hope to come for more

  13. Kimberly:

Llodra murray will be fun, because they play great tennis in their own way. serve and volley against Andy’s variety of tricks!

I am waiting for the Sloane match too. If she can focus, she can make some serious noise in this tournament and the next year or so!

How about Blake? What a story. Sad for Venus! 😦

  14. Hewitt through! Fognini got hammered. Blake up 2 sets to 1.

A shout-out to my fellow Indian Somdev! Great win! He really deserves all the success he gets. If I am not mistaken the guy beat Isner in NCAA!

  15. “Yes rod fed, somdev beat isner in the NCAA championship”

@Kimberly – Unfortunately the tools required at early stages in tennis is different from what is required at the prolevel! I can list out so many players who promise a lot on the juniors and promptly fail to deliver @ prolevel!

NCAA to prolevel also has a similar analogy. I would love to see somdev-Isner sometime this year. that would be fun 🙂
