The 2014 Tennis season is already up and away. Congratulations to Novak Djokovic and Boris Becker for getting a few wins and the title in Abu Dhabi. As he has done the past few years, the 3-time defending Australian Open Champion will head directly to Melbourne as he attempts to get solo possession of the record for maximum Australian Open titles.
Not too far away from Abu Dhabi, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray will kick start their 2014 campaigns in the Doha 250. You can catch Sportz Cosmos’ preview and predictions for the Qatar Open, here.
A few countries away, in the same continent, we have Stanislas Wawrinka trying to defend his Aircel Chennai Open title. Benoit Paire, Mikhail Youzhny, Fabio Fognini and Somdev Devvarman will be his main contenders.
In the land down under, Roger Federer will begin his campaign at Brisbane International. Kei Nishikori, Gilles Simon and Kevin Anderson are the other main contenders. You can catch Sportz Cosmos’ preview and predictions for the Brisbane International, here.
On the WTA side, the starinas have descended in full force at the Brisbane International. Serena Williams will be defending her crown against a field led by Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova. You can catch Sportz Cosmos’ preview and predictions for the WTA Brisbane International, here.
The other tennis tournament on the WTA side is in Auckland, New Zealand, where Roberta Vinci, Ana Ivanovic, Kirsten Flipkens and Sorana Cirstea will be competing for the ASB classic.
Let the madness begin in full earnest. 2014, here comes the tennis season.
The most interesting tournament for me is Doha. I wonder how much we can read into Djoker’s win at Abu Dhabi, since it was an exhibition tournament,
Why are people so quick to discredit any Djokovic achievement? Now the Abu Dhabi win doesn;t count because it was an exhibition? Tell that to Nadal who lost to Ferrer.
We follow them all of course as well as the Hopman cup. Will be setting up a draw challenge for the Australian!
That will be terrific Kimberly! Looking forward to the Australian Open Draw Challenge 🙂
So Murray out and Rafa with three setter v Kamke?
Totally Brutal day in Doha! The Germans went berserk! Brands took out Ferrer too!
Nadal-Gulbis should be an epic match 🙂
Nadal kicking into top gear…. Starting to play his best tennis…. things are really heating up for the Australian Open 🙂
