In a world cup, no group can be straight forward. And with 2 American teams, one exciting Swiss side and the unpredictable French, this should be a good contest. History tells us American teams have always done well in the World Cups, and the conditions in Brazil will suit them, even if Ecuador and Honduras will be outsiders.

France will be heavy favourites to progress, but then we just don’t know which France will turn up. In Didier Deschamps they’ve a manager who knows what it means to win the World Cup and the squad boasts some irresistible talent, especially the marauding Paul Pogba even if they’ll be without superstars Samir Nasri and Franc Ribery. If they turn up, they’ll be fine.

Switzerland is an exciting young side, with players like Xherdan Shaqiri,Granit Xhaka,Josip Drmic they can give anyone a run of their money, as Spain found out in the last World Cup.

Ecuador did well to qualify directly and they do have quality players playing in La Liga and the Premier League, and with the conditions suiting them they wont be pushovers, and they’ve the spirit of Cristian Benitez motivating them.

Honduras are easily the weakest team in the group, and although they have Wilson Palacios playing in the Premier League, they face an uphill task to qualify.

PREDICTIONS : France and Switzerland to qualify, with Ecuador just missing out.
